Honda recently released pricing and other information on their Clarity PHEV. Not only can it go 47 miles on electricity alone, but it can also carry 5 people and take a little less out of your wallet than the competition.
Starting at $33,400, it comes in just a little below the Chevrolet Volt, which has only a slightly better EV range at 53 miles. But where you’ll likely find the biggest difference between the Clarity and Volt is the rear seat. While the Volt can, in theory, seat 5, the footspace is taken up by the Volt’s battery pack. The Volt’s 5th seat is great for toddlers, but even larger children will struggle to fit.
The Clarity, on the other hand, gives a lot more room for passengers in the back, making it more friendly for ridesharing, family duty, or carpooling.
Despite the extra room, gas mileage after EV range runs out is still slightly better than the Volt, so there really are no major tradeoffs with the Clarity PHEV. Be sure to check back for more news on this model and a review once it becomes available.
